Love The English
I adore the English language. How much? Well, I am going to put this out there: English is the most flowing language there is. I’m not saying that all the other languages are rubbish, just that English, as far as structure and learnability goes, is that little bit better. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. I’ve met plenty of foreign people who agree with me.
I confess though, I think English is the best partly because I am lazy (plus I am English so am fully biased) and I prefer talking and writing without having to remember the correct article for everything such as the dreaded hard-to-grasp Der, Die and Das. Seriously, what good does the article do? I’ve never seen anything wrong with the good old-fashioned The.
I’ve had The Article Debate numerous times with numerous people, and the same points tend to come up each and every time. The main reason why people like articles, as far as I am aware, is the whole accuracy thing: that’s to say that when you use a word with the correct article, it simply cannot be mistaken for anything else. And they do have a point in a way: English, with everything being called The, can be confusing if it’s not your native tongue. I suppose in the end it comes down to preference and opinion.
One thing which I have been told, many times, is that English is the favourite language to sing in. Some argue that the simple dynamic of the language lends itself to being sculpted better than most, while others disagree and think that French is the best language to sing in.
