Problems from Ash Continue
After reading this story here, I find that I have some strong opinions on the subject. I know that volcano’s can be really destructive. I know that ash has covered town and caused issues. But I had no idea that ash could shut down most of a country. I think the amount of ash that appears to be in the air is absolutely astounding. I am having a hard time with the fact that all of the airports are shut down.
I find it equally astounding that they can’t even get basic supplies such as food in to those parts of the country. It is causing an insane amount of havoc. There are people stranded in Europe trying to get home. There are even people stranded in the US trying to get home to Europe. I find it equally disturbing that people are losing their places to stay as they only had their hotels booked for a certain amount of time. I also hear that the care fees advice service phones were flooded, due to the inability to care access from the elderly.
I also wonder what happens to the people that are stuck when they run out of spending money. I know when I go on vacation I only have a certain amount I can spend. If you are stuck in another country for days longer than you intended to be you could run out of money. The sheer amount of ash was also astounding to me. The reports said that it was 5.3 miles high. I cannot imagine the amount of ash it takes to cause a cloud to be 5.3 miles high. I cannot help but wonder what other issues a cloud of that size could cause. The ash is a mixture of sand, glass, and rock particles. I think that it is equally as sad that the ash in the air is going to make it impossible or nearly impossible for some people to attend the Polish funeral. I am also wondering how long it will take for the ash to clear completely.
